Information Solutions and Services Anti-Virus Policy

1. Information Solutions and Services will ensure that all computer systems under their control have appropriate anti-virus monitoring software in place.

2. User file areas will be scanned on a regular basis to ensure that no virus epidemics break out.

3. Users will also be provided with documentation and software for protecting their own computer systems and files, and will be regularly reminded to carry out virus scans.

4. Information Solutions and Services Advisory staff will receive adequate training, and updates, on virus threats, virus hoaxes, and anti-virus measures in place, such that user queries about viruses can be dealt with.

5. Overall responsibility for anti-virus measures will be the responsibility of the departmental security person, and this person will carry out an annual review to ensure that the policy is being complied with.
