A number of settings must be enabled on your desktop to ensure operation after the network update has been rolled out in your area. You ’must’ have these settings implemented on your desktop to ensure operation. The changes can be carried out prior to the implementation date. Currently all users are required to register their machine with ISS in order to obtain an IP Address. This will not change. However, instead of a fixed IP address being assigned to a desktop, an IP Addresses will be dynamically allocated to a device on connection to a wall box similar to the icon below

Fixed IP Addresses will be assigned only to hosts on which a service is to be provided as well as to printers. These will be assigned on request at registration of a desktop device
