STAFF, ANTI-VIRUS INFORMATION, EPO agent for vista

EPO Agent Installation for Windows Vista

EPO is an integral part of the NUI Galway anti-virus solution on the wired network. It is imperative that that you install the EPO agent if you are connecting via the wired NUI Galway network as it ensures that your computer is protected with the current NUI Galway anti-virus solution.  

1. Save your files and shut down any open programs
   
   
2. Download the installation file
   If you have difficulty in downloading the EPO file, please go to the Service Desk where you will be able to get a copy. Please make sure you have a USB Flash Drive to hand in order to get a copy of the file.
   
   
3. You will be prompted to open or to save the file.
   Save the file to your Desktop.
   
   
4. Once the file is saved on your desktop, right-click on it and select Properties 
   
   
5. Click the Compatibility tab
   
   
6. In Privilege Level section, select Run this program as an administrator
   
   
7. Click Apply and then click  OK 
   
   
8. When the User Account Control window is displayed, select Allow
   
   
9. On the Interactive Services dialog detection window, select Show me the message
   
   
10. After a few minutes the McAfee Agent And Updater Setup window will display the following message:
    Setup Completed Successfully
    
    
11. The EPO Agent can take a number of minutes before it will appear in the System Tray at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. It will appear as the following icon   
    
    
12. Right click on this icon  
    You will see the menu shown below. 
     
    Click About to find out what version of the EPO agent and what version of the McAfee VirusScan is installed. 
     
    
13. Vista users should have the following versions of EPO and McAfee VirusScan installed
    EPO Agent: 3.6.0453 or higher
    McAfee VirusScan Enterprise Workstation 8.5.0.781 or higher



14. The final step is now to install the McAfee VirusScan software.
