How to find the machine Name
How to find the Machine Name (a.k.a. Computer, Node, Host or NetBIOS Name) of your computer
Windows computers
- Click
Start, then
Run, type
CMD in the text box and click
OK
- Type in
ipconfig/all in the Command Prompt window and press the Return key
- In the Command Prompt window, locate Host Name - this is the name of your computer.
Apple Macintosh computers
- From the
Apple menu, Select
System Preferences, then
Network, then click the Advanced button
- Select the
WINS tab, in the
Net Bios Name section you will find the name of your Macintosh.
