Skype Proxy Settings for Windows Users

Some Skype users on-campus at NUI, Galway may experience a problem when opening Skype i.e. the message "Connecting" will continuously appear. This is due to the particular network setting for some desktop computer connections. To resolve this issue, complete the steps outlined below:

Log in to Skype
From the Tools menu, choose Options and then choose Connection
Click the drop-down arrow and choose Automatic proxy detection
The Skype Options Connection dialog box should appear as shown below
Close the Options dialog box, log off and close Skype to ensure that the changes take effect
Restart Skype - a connection should now be available
