Prerequisites for Outlook 2007

1. Download and install the Office 2007 SP2 or the Office 2007 SP2 installation disk is available from the ISS Service Desk.
   Office 2007 SP2 is required for the patch recommended in step 2 below.
   
   
2. Download and install the Outlook 2007 Patch 
    
3. Download and run the following registry file
   
   
4. To complete the prerequisites clear Outlook cache
   

Prerequisites for Outlook 2010

1. Outlook 2010 users should clear Outlook cache.  Note this is the only prerequisite for Outlook 2010 users.
   

Automatic Re-configuration of Outlook 2007/2010 Post Migration

Note: When your mailbox has been migrated to the Exchange 2010 server your email client will automatically re-configure the email server setting required.  You will need to restart your Outlook email in order for the new setting to be applied.

1. If Outlook is open during the migration process your Outlook email will show Disconnected at the bottom right of your screen
   
   
   
2. On exiting and restarting Outlook a message is displayed The Microsoft Exchange Administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook.  Click OK
   
   
   
3. Restart Outlook.
   After restarting Outlook your email will now be automatically reconfigured for Exchange 2010.  You will see your status changed from Disconnected to Connected
    
   
   

How to check your Outlook settings are correct

1. Ensure Outlook is closed.  Go to Start > Stettings > Control Panel, double click on the Mail icon
   
   
   
2. The Mail Setup - Outlook window will open, click on Show Profiles
   
   
   
3.  Select Outlook, click on Properties
   
   
   
4. Click on E-mail Accounts...
   
   
   
5. The Account Settings window will open, double click on your email address
   
   
   
6. The Server: should be mail.nuigalway.ie 
   If it is does not have mail.nuigalway.ie, then you can edit this window and enter the text mail.nuigalway.ie
   Once correct, click Next
   
   
   
7. To complete click Finish
