All personal computers (including Macintosh) and printers purchased for use at NUI Galway should be purchased under procurement contract CON111. Budget holders should release funds for the purchase of personal computers or printers only when those purchases are being made from the five contracted suppliers and under the terms of the contract.

The contract has been awarded for desktop computers, laptop computers and printers. The contract begins 31 March 2008 and continues for two years with the option to extend the contract with two further renewals each of one year duration.

Hardware Warranty

• Desktops (Windows) and standard laptops (Windows): four year next business day on-site warranty
• Apple Macintosh desktops and laptops: three year next business day on-site warranty 
• Lightweight and Tablet (Windows) laptops: three year next business day on-site warranty
• Optional warranty extensions for up to five years available for all desktops and laptops
• Printers: One year next business day on-site warranty as standard; some models have a three year warranty included as standard

Software

Windows

• Desktops and laptops for use in the Academic arena come with NUIG staff software profile pre-installed – details available online; desktops and laptops for use in Administration areas are pre-imaged by MIS

Apple Macintosh

• MS Office for Mac pre-installed (currently 2008 version)
• Bootcamp available pre-installed on request at no additional charge

Support

• Full Information Solutions and Services/MIS support for IT equipment purchased under contract
• Each supplier has dedicated NUI Galway account management teams (see supplier websites listed below for contact details)
• Out-of-warranty hardware support for equipment purchased under contract
