From the main Quercus Screen choose Course Manager and then Course Enquiry. The following screen appears. On the top left is the session, which currently defaults to 2000. This can be changed depending on what year you are making the enquiry for.
Next is the Course field, which allows you to enter a course and then choose filter to get to that specific course. This is what you get on entering BA. You can also use B% to get all the course codes beginning with B.
The description field can be completed if necessary with a wildcard (%) – e.g. this is what you get on entering BA% - all descriptions beginning with BA.
Finally you can choose from the list of drop-down values in the Department field. You can also choose a combination of all three and choose filter to get what you want.
When you click on the yellow envelope to the right of the course enquiry – this is the screen you get. All of the course information is available here. The top part of the screen gives you the name of the course, the director, department, tutors attached and field of study. The bottom half gives a breakdown of the number of years, the start and end dates for the course, the course instance and mode of study if applicable.
To the right of the instance code is another drill-down yellow envelop which tells you what modules are attached to that instance e.g. 1BA6 and their type Core, Optional etc
You can drill-down further to the breakdown of modules and the last yellow envelope on the right-hand side allows you to enter the qualifications attached to the module.
You can use the Module search to search for an individual module especially if there is a huge list of them. By clicking on the down-arrow, a search screen appears and you can either type in the module name or part thereof using % as a wildcard. Then
click on Find and it will find that specific module for you.
Once you have found the specific module, you can then drill-down to the next level of detail (if it exists) e.g. EC107
This gives you all the details about the type, weighting, credits and whether it is semesterised or not. The requisites column allows you to put pre and co-requisites if they exist. This is mainly for Progression from year to year. The assessment column is
for the exam against this module. Notice that, depending on the structure of the course, there may be one, two or three
tabs – Module, Unit and Detail. This is to do with one, two and three level structures.
To exit at any point use the green door -
From the Course Enquiry you can also get details on fees, class lists and statistics. Click on the Fees button and this is what you see.
This shows the breakdown of fees by the fee category. For the BA course the EU fee category breaks down in to Tuition, Non-tuition and Student Levy. For other categories, there would be a different breakdown.
The class list button gives you the list of students on that specific course.
