What is ANSYS?

ANSYS is a finite-element analysis package to simulate the response of a physical system to structural loading, and thermal and electromagnetic effects. ANSYS uses the finite-element method to solve the underlying governing equations and the associated problem-specific boundary conditions.

Does NUI, Galway have a site license for ANSYS?

No. NUI, Galway has a limited amount of ANSYS Academic Teaching Introductory licenses available for on-campus use only. Licenses are distributed by a network server, and are due for renewal in September. Products included in the ANSYS Academic Teaching Introductory license are listed on the ANSYS website. Software licensing terms are available online.

IDAC Ireland is the NUI,Galway partner for ANSYS. The IDAC Ireland website provides the latest news about ANSYS applications, releases, IDAC publications, training and seminar programs.

How can I get ANSYS for my computer?

• ANSYS is available in PC Suites – search online for relevant PC Suites.

  ANSYS is available to purchase from resellers e.g. IDAC Ireland.

  ANSYS is available for on-campus use only. Please email servicedesknuigalway.ie to borrow a copy of the installation CD.
  
  ANSYS is available to postgraduate researchers for on-campus use only i.e. researchers who have a desktop computer linked to the campus network (excluding wireless connections). Please email servicedesknuigalway.ie to borrow a copy of the installation CD.

Can I install ANSYS on my home computer?

No. Licences must be purchased. IDAC Ireland is the NUI,Galway partner for ANSYS.

Technical support is available from ANSYS.

Known Issues

Critical issue for ANSYS Workbench 14.0 users of Mechanical or Mesh system databases. This critical issue can result in the corruption of Workbench Mechanical or Mesh system database files. If further information is needed, please contact technical support.
