What is MapBasic?

MapBasic is a robust, complete, BASIC-like programming language which is used to create customised mapping applications or integrate mapping functionality into existing applications.

Does NUI, Galway have a site licence for MapBasic software?

Yes. NUI, Galway has signed up with Eduserv/CHEST for a site licence agreement. Details of the agreement are available online.

How can I get MapBasic software for my computer?

• Students
  MapBasic is not available in PC Suites. Under the Chest General Licence Conditions, staff/students are entitled to run a copy of their Institution's licensed software on their home machine for the normal business of the Institution. The MapBasic installation CD is available to borrow, please email servicedesknuigalway.ie

  The MapBasic installation CD is available to borrow, please email servicedesknuigalway.ie
  
  MapBasic is available to postgraduate researchers for on-campus use only i.e. researchers who have a desktop computer linked to the campus network (excluding wireless connections). Please email  servicedesknuigalway.ie to borrow a copy of the installation CD

  To install software on your machine you must be login as an administrator
  If you borrow MapBasic software, you are obliged to sign a copyright acknowledgement form.

Can I install MapBasic software on my home computer?
