What is Microsoft Word?

Microsoft Word is Microsoft's flagship word processing software.  It is a component of the Microsoft Office system.

Does NUI, Galway have a site licence for MS Word software?

Microsoft Word is covered by the Microsoft Campus Agreement.  This agreement only applies to staff of NUI, Galway and/or PCs located on campus with work-at-home rights for permanent staff of NUI, Galway. How can I get Microsoft Word software for my computer?

  Students can download a 30 Day free trial Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007
  
  
• Staff
  Staff can borrow installation CD/DVD from the  Service Desk in Information Solutions and Services (ext. 5777, email servicedesknuigalway.ie).  If you borrow Microsoft Office software, you are obliged to sign a Licence Agreement form.
  
  Microsoft Word is available to postgraduate researchers for on-campus use only i.e. researchers who have a desktop computer linked to the campus network (excluding wireless connections). Please email  servicedesknuigalway.ie to borrow a copy of the installation CD/DVD.

Yes, for permanent staff members only.  Installation CD/DVD are available from the Service Desk (ext. 5777, e-mail servicedesknuigalway.ie).  If you borrow Microsoft Office software, you are obliged to sign a Licence Agreement form
