Services: Web site Hosting

Web site hosting is provided on the University Web Server, faq.intranet.nuigalway.ie, which is managed by Web Services, Information Solutions and Services.

The Web server is running Apache on Linux.

Supported server side technologies include:

Apache logging is enabled. All downtime to date has been deliberate (to allow software upgrades). Click Here for Latest Uptime Statistics. Full backups are made weekly and incremental backups are made daily in accordance with the Information Solutions and Services' Backup Policy.

Access to the server is via the CMS and some users are granted FTP/SFTP access. For security reasons, it is not possible to grant FTP/SFTP access to external (off-campus) machines unless those machines have static IP addresses. Currently, the space allocated to individual Web sites is not limited although this may change in the future.
