Where can I purchase/repair my personal computer?

ISS is not involved in the purchase/repair of computer equipment for student’s personal use and do not provide recommendations for any such purchase/repair. ISS do not endorse any particular supplier but provides the following list of suppliers in the local area for your information:

Anti-Virus and Windows Updates

Make sure your anti-virus software is up-to-date and ensure the latest Microsoft security patches are installed via Windows Update and that your firewall is switched on. Students and staff can borrow McAfee Anti-Virus software from the Service Desk  to install on their own Windows laptops.

What is an Ethernet Cable?

Ethernet cable is the standard cable used to connect networks and computers together. The cable is used to transmit data at high speeds over a local area network (LAN). You will need to purchase an Ethernet cable if you are connecting your machine from the Student Residences. Ethernet cables are available to buy online or in computer stores.
