Campus Account credentials provide students access to all computing services. These services include:

How do I get a Campus Account?
Registered students can go online to CASS and activate their Campus Account using the following credentials:
What is my temporary activation password?
Each student is assigned a temporary activation password when they begin at the University. For new students, the temporary activation password is galwayDDMM (the word galway followed by the date and month from your date of birth). For example, if your date of birth is the 9th of November then your temporary activation password is galway0911.
What happens if I enter the wrong password?
You are allowed three attempts to enter your password at https://cass.nuigalway.ie/. If you enter your password incorrectly three times, your Campus Account will lock and the following message will appear on the CASS login screen:
If this happens, please contact the Library & I.T. Service Desk in order to unlock your Campus Account.
What is my Campus Account password?
When you activate your Campus account online at https://cass.nuigalway.ie/ you are prompted to complete a number of activation questions and to choose your new Campus Account password. Once you have completed this process, your Campus Account and password are active immediately.
What are the requirements for a Campus Account password?
The Campus Account password:
- Is case-sensitive
- Has a minimum password length of eight characters
- Has a maximum password length of 16 characters
- Must be alpha numeric – consisting of at least one number and one letter
- Can contain uppercase letters and lowercase letters
- Can contain numbers
- Can contain the following ASCII text characters: (’ ~ ! @# $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + - = { } | [ ] : " ; ' < > ? , . /)
- Cannot contain any of the following items:
- User ID
- First name
- Surname
- Answers to any of the self service questions created during activation or updated following activation
- Spaces
- Non-English characters
Note: If you change your Campus Account password, you are restricted from choosing a new password that is the same as any of your three most recent Campus Account passwords.
How do I change my Campus Account password?
- Go online to https://cass.nuigalway.ie/
- On the left-hand side of the screen click on My Account > Change Password
Enter your current password
Select a new password and re-enter the new password for confirmation
Click Save - Note: If you change your Campus Account password, you are restricted from choosing a new password that is the same as any of your three most recent Campus Account passwords.
Why can't I log in to my Campus Account?
- Have you registered with NUI Galway as a new/returning student?
- Have you activated your Campus Account?
- Have you paid your fees?
If you have not registered, activated your Campus Account, or paid your fees, then your Campus Account will expire.
Do I ever need to return to CASS after activating my Campus Account?
If you have already activated your Campus Account you can access all computing services using your Campus Account user ID and password. The only reasons to return to CASS are to either change your password or to retrieve your password if you forget it.
When does my temporary activation password expire?
Your temporary activation password will expire 15 days after University registration date. You must activate your Campus Account within this timeframe.
My temporary activation password has expired - what do I do?
When the temporary Activation Password expires, all account access is disabled. Go to CASS to activate your Campus Account. Your User ID and temporary Activation Password will continue to allow you to access CASS until your Campus Account is activated.
How do I change my password for my student email?
Your student email password is the same as your Campus Account CASS password.
Note: Your student email username is your NUI Galway email address, not your student ID number.
What is my student email address?
In order to locate your email address, go to CASS (https://cass.nuigalway.ie) and click on Set Language. Your NUI Galway student email address will be displayed here.
