Connect an LCD Screen to the Campus Network

To connect an LCD Screen to the campus network, please log a call on the Service Desk Ticketing System.  When logging a call there are three Request types to choose from:  Install a New Device, Replace Device or Other.

  1. For the installation of a New Device, please select the Request Type - Wifi & Network > LCD Screens > Install New Device. The requirements are:

    • Department
    • Contact within department (including phone number)
    • Phone number of external company
    • Wall box to which device will be connected
    • Ethernet address of the device (this must be supplied by the supplier the internal NUIG department) and will be mandatory for the ticket to be logged
  2. For the Replacement of a Device, please select the Request Type - Wifi & Network > LCD Screens > Replace Device.  The requirements are:

    • Department
    • Contact within department (including phone number)
    • Phone number of external company
    • Wall box from which device is being replaced
    • Mac address and IP Address of device which is being moved
  3. The Request Type Other, please select the Request Type - Wifi & Network > LCD Screens > Other.

    • Other can be used to report an issue or fault with the LCD screen.

Once your call is logged the ISS the network team will complete the following;

  1. Assign a fixed ip address based on the devices mac address.
  2. A network port will be enabled and patched at the communications room.
  3. A patch cable will be connected to the wall box to which the new device will be connected.

When the network team have completed this work they will inform by updating the call you logged.   You should in turn, contact the external company who will come on site to carry out their portion of the work.  The external company should ensure the device is operational and also provide you with any password information associated with the device.
