What is the U: Drive?

All users are allocated disk space on the network servers. This space is referred to as your U: Drive and can be used to store your files from one session to another. It is your responsibility to maintain this disk space.  Students are allocated 1Gb and Staff 3Gb disc space.

Note:  Your U: Drive is cleared down when you are no longer a registered student in NUI Galway or a member of staff.

How do I access the U: Drive in the PC Suites?

Once logged in double-click My Computer and then the U: Drive icon.

In order to see how much disk space is available to you,  click on the File Explore icon, right click on the U:Drive and choose Properties, you will see the Used and Available space information in the format of a pie chart.  Do NOT save your work to the Desktop, as files saved there will not be available to you when you next login.

OneDrive is Microsoft's storage service for hosting files in the "cloud." It is available for free to all staff and students through their NUI Galway Office 365 account. OneDrive offers users a simple way to store, sync and share various types of files, with other people and devices on the internet.  You will receive 1TB of storage through OneDrive.

Note:  Access to your Office 365 account is disabled once you are no longer a registered student or staff member in NUI Galway.
