How do I find my Phone’s IMEI Number and other Details?

The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is the unique electronic serial number of a mobile phone. You can find your phone’s information by following the steps below;

  • iPhone
    iPhone users, type the following on the keypad, *#06#. Your IMEI will then be displayed on your screen.
    For full details go to Settings >  General > About
  • Android
    Most phones will display the IMEI number if you type *#06# on the keypad. 
    The * key is under the number 7 and the # key is under the number 9.
    For full details go to Settings > About Phone *These steps can differ from phone to phone as there are many different models and brands of Android phones.

How do I connect to WiFi?

How do I connect to Email?

You can connect to your University email account by either downloading the Outlook Mail App from the App Store or Google Play Store on your device or you can add the email account to your phone’s built-in email client by following the instructions for iPhone here or for Android here.

How do I turn On/Off Data Roaming?

To avoid unexpected data roaming charges when you go abroad you need to turn off your mobile data settings on your phone. You can still make and receive phone calls.

To turn Data Roaming On/Off

  • iPhone
    Tap Settings
    Tap General
    Tap Network
    Switch off Mobile Data
  • Android
    Press the menu key on your Android smartphone and tap on the Settings option.  Find mobile networks. You will need to scroll down until you find the option for Mobile Networks.  Switch off Cellular Data.

Personal Hotspot

Personal Hotspot  is a feature that lets mobile phones share their cellular data connection with other nearby devices via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB. This feature is generically known as tethering.  If you wish to enable this service on yourmobile phone your Nominated Departmental Contact  should contact Three and request the tethering feature.  Three will also provide you with information on the standard charges for this service.

  1. Tap the Settings icon in your home screen or app drawer.
  2. Under Wireless & networks, tap More.
  3. Tap Tethering & portable hotspot.
  4. Tap the toggle next to Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

Change the default calendar on iPhone/iPad

When your Office 365 email is configured, you may find that calendar entries that you put in your iPhone calendar do not sych up to your PC/Mac/iPad.  This occurs as the iPhone has defaulted to using a local calendar on the device.  Note: This procedure assumes that NUI Galway Office 365 email has already been setup on the phone.

  1. Go to Settings.  Then tap on Mail,Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Scroll to Calendars.  Choose Default Calendar.
  3. You will see that your calendar has defaulted to another account such as iCloud or other email provider like Hotmail etc.  A tick beside the account indicates what the deafult calendar currently is.
  4. Choose your Office 365 account by tapping on it.
    In the example above, the O365 account is called O365 Exchange.  In most cases, it may simply be called 'Exchange' or 'NUI Galway'.

How do I update my phone's software?

You can check for any available updates and update your phone’s software  by following the steps below;  It is important to ensure that you have your device plugged in when preforming a software update to ensure that there isn’t a lose of power mid-update.

  • iPhone
    Go to Settings > General > Software Update
    The phone will automatically search for a software update and prompt you to install it if there is one available.
  • Android
    Go to Settings > Software Update
    Choose “Check for software update” or download “Software updates manually”. It will check for a software update and prompt you to install it if there is one available. *These steps can differ from phone to phone as there are many different models and brands of Android phones.

My phone is damaged, what do I do?

  • Login to blueclick.ie and from the home screen click on Returns & Repairs. Complete the prompted questions and Three will be in contact with you regarding organizing the collection of your device for repair. Or you can complete the Three Business Direct Handset Repair Form
  • After-sales queries, support and faulty iPhone/iPad must be directed to the Apple Care Team on 1850 946 191. Please note that this can lead to longer repair time on faulty devices.
