NUIGWiFi
NUIGWiFi
The NUIGWiFi service is designed to provide students, staff and registered guests with easy access to the Internet. When you connect to NUIGWiFi, you will be redirected to a captive gateway to authenticate using your Campus Account credentials.
What is NUIGWiFi?
The NUIGWiFi service is a secure network designed to provide students, staff, and registered guests at the University with easy access to the Internet.
NUIGWIFI requires you to authenticate using your Campus account credentials every time you connect to the network. This is not required with Eduroam.

Who can use the service?
- NUI Galway Students
- NUI Galway Staff
- NUI Galway T and E Account Holders
How can a visitor access this network?
- Conference participants must contact the Conference Office for temporary access to this wireless network.
- External users can login using their Campus Account.
- Other visitors on campus may gain access to this network using a temporary account. A WiFi only temporary account may be requested by a staff sponsor using the Service Desk Ticketing System.
Getting Started: Connecting to NUIGWiFi
Windows 10
- The wireless bar icon is location at the right hand side of the system bar, clock to the system clock.
- Click on the wireless bar icon and the currently available wireless networks will show. Click on NUIGWiFi, and then click Connect.
- Once connected you can now open your browser and login with your Campus Account User ID and Password, as shown on Wireless Info Handout.
If you are not prompted with a login page, navigate to http://www.nuigalway.ie (it's important to connect using http, and not https).
Windows 7
1. The wireless bar icon is located at the right hand side of the system bar, close to the system clock.
2. Click on the wireless bar icon and the currently available wireless window will show. Click on NUIGWiFi, and then click Connect.
3. Once connected, you can now open your browser and login with your Campus Account User ID and Password, as shown on Wireless Info Handout.
If you are not prompted with a login page, navigate to http://www.nuigalway.ie (it's important to connect using http, and not https).
4. That's it! You're connected to the internet.
Apple macOS (Mac)
- Click on the wireless icon on the top right of your screen and select NUIGWiFi.
- Once connected, you can now open your browser and login with your Campus Account User ID and Password, as shown on Wireless Info Handout.
If you are not prompted with a login page, navigate to http://www.nuigalway.ie (it's important to connect using http, and not https).
3. That's it! You're connected to the internet.
Apple iOS (iPhone / iPad)
- Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi -> Select NUIGWiFi.
- A pop-up should display, tap to open or go to Safari and browse to http://www.nuigalway.ie.
- Login using your Campus Account User ID and Password.
- That's it! You're connected to the internet.
Android
Please note that due to the large number of Android flavours and devices, the following steps may be slightly different for your device.
- Go to Settings -> Network & Internet -> Wi-Fi -> Select NUIGWiFi.
- A pop-up should display, tap to open or go to your browser and browse to http://www.nuigalway.ie.
- Login using your Campus Account User ID and Password.
- That's it! You're connected to the internet.
