Best Overall Project
Nathan Shaughnessy a recent graduate from the B.Sc. (IT) degree programme at NUI Galway, is seen here receiving his prize for Best Overall Project at Information Technology Prize Giving ceremony on October 23rd . Nathan’s project was titled “Evolving Effective Strategies for Multi-Player Poker” and the project involved identifying useful features of game and using evolutionary computation to find suitable combinations of these features to generate good poker strategies. Colm O’Riordan was his Supervisor. The prize was presented by Kevin Barron of Fidelity Investments Ireland Ltd., sponsors of the Best IT Project prize. Also pictured is Prof. Gerard Lyons, Information Technology, NUI, Galway. Nathan was also a prize winner in the Best Business Plan category.
