The Conlisk Scholarship is supported by a group of Irish Americans living in the Greater Bridgeport, Connecticut area. They came together over twenty years ago to establish the scholarship in memory of Fr. John M. Conlisk, a catholic priest who died of cancer. Fr. Conlisk was born in Ireland and has many relatives who live in the Galway/Mayo area. His surviving brother, Kevin Conlisk and his family visit Ireland nearly every year.
The Scholarship is awarded to one student from Ireland each year for a full-time study towards the Master of Business Administration (MBA), M.S. in Accounting or M.S. in Finance at Fairfield University.
The scholarship covers tuition, room and board, books and insurance for three semesters or approximately one and a half calendar years. The student is responsible for transportation and day-to-day expenses.
Benefits for Irish students pursuing the MBA at Fairfield University.
The programme is strong; it is highly regarded by business and is accredited by AACSB International.
The location is excellent for international students who want the opportunity to visit New York City (only 50 miles away and easily accessible by train); experience Boston or Washington D.C. (both easily reached by train) or the eastern seaboard.
Students from Ireland are welcomed by a warm and supportive American-Irish community. The visiting students not only attend the University but are often invited into the homes of the various sponsors of the Conlisk Scholarship and get a first hand impression of American life.
Most students return to Ireland and secure employment with major companies, including Microsoft, Bank of Ireland, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Ernst & Young and Ford Motor Company.
When applying for the scholarship students must supply a GMAT score, description of courses completed in your programme along with the application. Closing date for receipt of applications is February 1st.
