Beginning in 2006, the University of Toronto has opened up undergraduate summer courses to international visiting students. This program may be of interest to you if you are currently enrolled in an arts or science programme. The purpose in enrolling in courses at the University of Toronto is to transfer credits back to an undergraduate degree program at your home institution. This new initiative is called the International Summer Program (ISP). This is a unique and exciting opportunity for you to be part of one of the top universities in Canada, and to have a significant study abroad experience that does not interrupt your academic program at home. Full details of the programme can be found on their website
http://www.isprogram.utoronto.ca/. They also have a small brochure that highlights the main points of the ISP that they can send to you.
Students in the International Summer Program will have the option to choose from hundreds of Arts & Science courses offered on the downtown UofT campus each summer. They have also developed a new credit course on 'Toronto in the Canadian Context' for both ISP students and regular UofT students, as well as an optional, non-credit ESL course for programme participants.
Scholarships:
The International Summer Programme (ISP) is pleased to be able to provide scholarships for international students who participate in the programme. The Canadian Experience Scholarships are residence-based scholarships. Successful candidates will receive one space in the Woodsworth College residence for one summer term (approximate value - $1,300 CAD). Canadian Experience Scholarships are available to all students who apply to the programme. Details are included on their website
http://www.isprogram.utoronto.ca/.
Deadline Dates to Apply:
Applications must be submitted through their website by April. Please note that late applications will be accepted as time and space permit.
Please note that this is not an exchange program but is open to degree students of any recognized institution. International students admitted to the programme will pay fees to the University of Toronto to be admitted as visiting non-degree students.
