The closing dates for receipt of applications from Visiting Students
are*:
(a) 30 April in the case of applications for admission for a full academic year or First Semester and,
(b) 31 October in the case of applications for Second Semester.

The Student Experience at NUI Galway
At NUI Galway, we know that a first class educational experience is only one of the contributing factors to a great study abroad experience. We pride ourselves in offering a range of opportunities for our visiting students to become fully immersed in the sporting, social and cultural life of the University and thereby make the most of tjheir time in Galway.
Students are actively encouraged to join some of the many clubs and societies on campus or participate in the hugely popular student volunteering programme, where they can work with a variety of local community organisations.
Sports Clubs
The University’s prime location on the banks of the River Corrib provides students with excellent opportunities to take part in water sports from rowing to kayaking to canoeing, while the hills of Connemara are easily accessible for those interested in mountaineering, hill-walking and orienteering.
The University’s new indoor Sports Hall offers squash courts, a swimming pool, gym, badminton, volleyball and basketball courts, table tennis, boxing, karate and aerobics.
Outdoor playing fields are also available for sports including track and field,

Student Societies
There is no better way to integrate into the social and cultural life of the University than through membership of one of the University’s societies. Ever-popular societies include the Celtic World Society, Choral Society, Drama Society, Film Society, Human rights Society, Literary & Debating Society and the International Students Society and the North American Students Society.

Performing Arts
NUI Galway is home to a unique campus-based active arts environment. The University’s Arts Officer organises a varied programme of exhibitions, concerts, art lectures and theatre productions.
The University’s close proximity to Galway city also provides numerous opportunities for students to become involved in the various literary, musical and visual arts activities based in the city. The Arts in Action programme, specially designed for students in the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies, includes illustrated performances and lectures.
