General Entry Requirements

Entry requirements for postgraduate taught and research programmes
vary. Applicants should consult the Postgraduate Prospectus to find out
the entry requirements for each programme.

As a general guide, applicants holding a Bachelor degree (in a relevant field) with good grades deemed equivalent to an Irish Honours Bachelor degree, will be considered for a postgraduate programmes at NUI Galway.

United States	Applicants presenting a four year Bachelor degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4 point scale) will be considered for postgraduate programmes. A relevant major may also be required.
Canada	Applicants presenting a four year Bachelor degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4 point scale) will be considered will be considered for postgraduate programmes. A relevant major may also be required.
China	Applicants presenting a four year Bachelor degree from a recognised Chinese university, with an average grade of 80% will be considered for postgraduate programmes. A relevant major may also be required.
India	Students presenting a 4 year Bachelor degree with First class Honours (65%) will be considered for postgraduate programmes. Students presenting a 3 year Bachelor degree with First class Honours will be considered on a case by case basis. A relevant major may also be required.
Malaysia	A Bachelor degree (normally, min GPA of 3.0) from a recognised Malaysian university is normally considered acceptable for postgraduate programmes.
Russia	Applicants presenting a Bachelor degree from with excellent grades (5) will be considered for postgraduate programmes. A relevant major may also be required.
Saudi Arabia	Applicants presenting a four year Bachelor degree from a recognised University with a GPA of 3.5 out of 5.0 in a relevant major will be considered for postgraduate programmes.
United States	Applicants presenting a four year Bachelor degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4 point scale) will be considered for postgraduate programmes. A relevant major may also be required.
