Undergraduate Programmes
We offer over 40 undergraduate programmes across the five colleges of the University:
You can view a complete list of programmes at http://www.nuigalway.ie/courses/undergraduate-courses/ Choosing your programmeIn Ireland as in many other European countries, undergraduate students enter a specific programme in their first year of university. Some programmes such as the Bachelor of Art (Omnibus) and the Bachelor of Science (Undenominated) are ’open’ degrees, which means you choose classes from across a broad range of subjects within a certain area of study before specialising at a later stage. Such programmes are ideally suited to students who know generally what area of study they are interested in (e.g. Arts/Humanities, Business, Science etc.,) but who may not know which exact subject(s) within that area they wish to concentrate on at the point of entry. In addition, we also offer a number of more specialised programmes for students who know what they wish to focus on from their very first year of study. Many of our programmes are unique in Ireland, such as those in Human Rights, Creative Writing, Theatre and Performance, Marine Science, and Sports and Exercise Engineering. We also offer undergraduate programmes in areas including Law and Medicine, which are often not available to undergraduate students in other countries.
