Giorgio Mustafaraj is a graduate of University of Genoa, Italy where he obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering. After this, in 2003 he successfully completed a Master’s degree (MSc) in Energy Systems and Thermal Processes at Cranfield University, Bedford, UK. Following this, he was awarded a scholarship from Brunel University, London, UK, to pursue a PhD in modelling and simulation of building thermal behaviour of three different office buildings in London, which he successfully completed in 2008. The research involved collaboration with TAC (part of Schneider group) specializing in HVAC control and energy optimization in buildings.
His main working experience started in 2007 as a Site Planning Engineer in Kuwait employed by Paresa S.p.A. In 2008 he started in a new position as Energy Manager within the Technical Office - Galliera Hospital, Genova (Italy). The position included working in a multidisciplinary team of engineers and architects from well known Italian and European companies such as Steam, D’Appolonia and Pinearq, to design a new green hospital building.
In 2012 Giorgio took a post at NUI Galway as a Post Doctoral researcher in the ITOBO project. His research centres on the optimisation of the control settings of the underfloor heating system coupled with the water-water heat pump.
