Dr. Marco Geron is a graduate from the Universita di Roma "La sapienza" where he obtained his masters degree in aerospace engineering. He continued his academic career at the same university where in the year 2004 he was awarded a Doctoral degree in Theoretical and Applied Mathematics. The PhD was carried out under the supervision of Prof. F. Sabetta and Associate Prof. R. Paciorri to analyse three dimensional flows in a linear aerospike nozzle.
In 2005 he moved to Ireland where he was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship from Aughinish Alumina Ltd. to develop numerical models for the alumina precipitation process. In 2007 he became a senior researcher with the University of Limerick (JHRC group) for the development of erosion corrosion models for industrial application and their integration into CFD software. In the year 2009 he transferred to the Stokes group, within the University of Limerick, where he was the lead coordinator for the group in the MAAXIMUS project (European project led by AIRBUS). His contribution to the project related to the analysis, through numerical simulations and experiments, of natural and forced convection phenomena inside the fuselage confined compartments. In 2011 he took up a post at NUIGalway as a senior researcher in the ITOBO research cluster.
Computational Fluid Dynamic applied at different topics such as: aerodynamic, population balance equations, erosion and corrosion, flashing flows, natural and forced convection heat transfer..
