Martin is a graduate of Civil Engineering 2010 at NUI Galway with first class honors. He then completed the Higher Diploma in Education with 1.1 Honors and joined the IRUSE group at Galway in September 2011. Martin has 6 years teaching experience in Music, Mathematics and Physics. His research combines the disciplines of Engineering and Education.
In 2011 he was awarded funding from the College of Engineering and Informatics, NUIG to pursue further study under the supervision of Dr. Marcus Keane and he is now in the first year of this research.
Martin's research work focuses on the systematic development of a formalised ICT tool chain to support the education/training of third level professional engineers in the design and operation of energy efficient buildings. The research focuses on the development of reduced order (Modellica) models of HVAC using the New Engineering Building as a demonstrator at NUI Galway.
