This is a four-year programme involving the study of Italian to degree level and includes a one-year period of study in Italy. The B.Comm (International) Italian allows suitably qualified students spend the third year of the programme studying Italian and business subjects at a University in Italy. Students are admitted directly to the programme through the C.A.O. (Code GY205).

IT105 Italian Language and Civilisation.
The course, open to all students, both beginners and non beginners aims at developing communicative competence in everyday life and business situations. It develops the four main language skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing, by means of regular practice based as much as possible on authentic material.
No previous knowledge of Italian is required
and students should be able to achieve a good level of fluency by the end of the year.

IT251 Italian Language. In each semester there will be intensive language work, focusing particularly on commercial texts. Emphasis will be on significantly increasing competence in both written and spoken business Italian.
IT250 Civilisation. The course will look at changes in Italian society, culture and economy in the 20th century.
The third year of this course is spent in Italy.
IT334 Italian Language. The intensive language course in final year will bring students to a high level of proficiency in Italian and, whilst dealing with situations arising in everyday conversation, it will focus on commerce specific topics with a view to preparing students for future employment in the sector
IT341 Marketing Languages Italian in Secondary Schools. In this service learning module we will identify elements of Italian culture which can be of interest to secondary school students and will organise meetings, projects and activities aimed at marketing Italian in secondary schools. Students will also be responsible for updating and maintaining the website http://www.newitalianliving.org/ . There is an attendance requirement of at least 75%. Students who attend less than 75% of required lectures will be deemed to have failed the module.
