I was a software developer for a multinational IT corporation before I started the MScSED programme. My prior education was a B.Eng.
The MScSED appealed to me because it was part-time, the modules related very closely to the skills required by a developer, and the course was online, enabling me to work and study at the same time. If the course wasn't online, I wouldn't have been able to do it.
It's a well thought out course and the content is very practical -- which was a huge plus. Most of my fellow students were also working, or had worked, in IT. Not everyone had experience with everything we studied, but we helped each other, and the facilitators were great. The course content reinforced knowledge and skills I already had and gave me good, current, practical knowledge and experience. The practical element of the thesis allowed me to concentrate on a research element for work which benefited our projects at the time.
From a career perspective, shortly after completing the MScSED, I became a senior software developer, then a subject matter expert and then a team/technical lead. I've also become a facilitator on the MScSED programme, which I enjoy immensely.
