Check to see if the site is Secure

When browsing the internet take care to make sure that the site that you are on is secure.
Take note to check for "https://" with particular care to the "s" as that will mean that site is "secure".

Some web browsers will also display the icons below to help you determine whether or not a site is secure.
To check a site's security, to the left of the web address, look at the security status:

  • Lock Secure
  • Information Info or Not secure
  • Dangerous Not secure or Dangerous

It is advised to treat these as a traffic light system that they are based off.

  • Green - Go ahead, the site itself is secure and safe to browse.
  • No Colour, "i", - Proceed with caution if it is necessary to continue on this site, it hasn't been fully tested so take particular care when clicking any links on the site/
  • Red - Stop, this is not secure or/and dangerous and it is not recommended to stay on this site.
