
Caroline Gooding is Special Advisor and Director at the Disability
Rights Commission, responsible for advising on key long-term, cross-cutting
disability issues, as well as the overall impact of the Disability
Discrimination Act.
She trained and formerly practiced as a solicitor and is author
of Blackstone's Guide to the Disability Discrimination Act (1995);
Enabling Acts Disabling Laws, Disability Rights in Britain and
the United States (1994). She has also contributed many articles
on disability and equality issues to a wide range of other publications
Caroline, a disability activist for many years, is a former member
of the Disability Rights Taskforce and a former Director of the
Disability Law Service and until recently was a part-time Policy
Adviser to the Employers Forum on Disability. Outside of her full-time
responsibilities at the Disability Rights Commission, Caroline
is Disability Adviser to the Mayor's Advisory Cabinet at the Greater
London Authority and Chair of the Trade Union Disability Alliance.
