Lucy-Ann Buckley has been a staff member at NUI, Galway since 1999. She originally graduated from University College Cork, where she was awarded the degrees of BCL and LLM. She was subsequently awarded a second master’s degree of BCL by the University of Oxford, and a doctorate by Trinity College, Dublin. She is also a qualified solicitor and holds a Diploma in Irish from NUI, Galway.  Prior to taking up a position at NUI, Galway, she lectured in law at the University of Warwick and the University of Limerick. She specialises in gender equality law and in Irish and comparative matrimonial property law. While at NUI, Galway, she has been closely involved with the development of the Diploma in Irish for Lawyers (Dioplóma sa Ghaeilge do Lucht an Dlí), in conjunction with Oifig na Gaeilge Labhartha.
