Mary Keys is a graduate of University College Cork, University of Manchester,
NUI, Galway and Cardiff University. She worked in the health service before
completing her law degree and LL.M. She was a tutor in the Law Faculty before
becoming a full-time member of staff in 1999. She was awarded
Ph.D. by the University of Wales, Cardiff University Law School in 2006 on the
area of mental health law and human rights. The title of her thesis was: The
Enforcement of the Rights of Mental Disordered People and the European Convention
on Human Rights. Mary specialises in Mental Health Law and is a founder
member of the Law Faculty'sDisability
Law and Policy Research Unit.

Participating in the study on End of Life Care for Older People
in Ireland involving the Centre for Nursing Studies and the Economics
Department by contributing a section on the legal framework for
end of life care for older people in Ireland.
