The
Law
Library offers an extensive range of materials
for research and study. One of the most exciting developments in
the library is the subscription to Lexis-Nexis Professional. This
on-line database provides access to over thirty thousand sources
including law reports, full text journals and legislation, as well
as over 3,000 full text newspapers and magazines. Full text of Irish
retreat from 1950, Irish legistation, UK and Commonwealth Case Law
and American Federal and State legistation and Case Law is available.
Lexis-Nexis Professional can be accessed throughout the campus and through remote access of our Library database. This service offers a sophisticated research facility, and together with the expertise of Law library staff provides excellent support to all research work in the Faculty. Westlaw is now also available on line for staff, researchers and students. Check the library page for details.
Law Librarian, Hugo Kelly, is taking part in the library's LARK (Library and Research Knowhow) series this semester. These are primarily aimed at undergraduates though of course anyone can attend. Of particular interest to Law Students is the "Research your Legal Essay" session, listed below. This session offers an overview of the main legal databases and journal that will help students with their various legal essays. It is aimed primarily at full time law students though it may be of value to students whose courses contain a strong legal component.
The full list of all available sessions is available from http://www.library.nuigalway.ie/support/training/trainingcalendar/ which also contains a booking system for interested students. Upcoming seminars are also highlighted on the Law School events calendar.HHi JHiHi J
