- 24th October 2011: Dr. Fiona de Londras, UCD School of Law, on "Privatised Sovereign Performance, Counter-Terrorism and Endangered Rights" in the Seminar Room, Irish Centre for Human Rights
- 19th October 2011: Ms. Siobhán Cummiskey, managing solicitor of the Irish Traveller Movement Independent Law Centre, on "Equal Rights Litigation and Travellers" in the Seminar Room, Irish Centre for Human Rights
- 12th October 2011: Mr. Diarmuid Griffin on "Life imprisonment, human rights and the punitive turn”.
- 6th October 2011: Professor Andrew Long, Florida Coastal School of Law on "Supranational Lawmaking and the United States”.

SEMINARS IN THE 2010/2011 ACADEMIC YEAR:
- Wendnesday 2nd March & Monday 7th March: ARAN training session in the James Hardiman Library, NUI Galway.
- Wednesday 2nd - Friday 4th March: The Centre for Innovation and Structural Change and NUI Galway is hosting a fourth level module on Innovation & Public Policy for doctoral students and researchers. Guest speakers will be presenting their research at the module, including:
- Thursday 16th November: Dr. Sarah Beecham will be giving an interactive seminar on Systematic Literature Reviews on Thursday Nov 18th at 10:00 in Room 110 (SAC Room), Ground Floor, Cairnes Building / St. Anthony’s. This is a very valuable topic and should be of particular interest to researchers, with valuable tips on how to make your literature review robust and highly publishable. A large number of researchers in Sarah’s group are already publishing a large number of papers in high quality journal outlets sing the SLR approach. Further information is available in this PDF.
- Tuesday 9th November: Seminar on IRCHSS PhD Fellowships at 10am in the Seminar Room, Irish Centre for Human Rights, School of Law.

Mr Michael McLoone former County Manager Donegal County Council will give a lecture on "Contemporary Issues in the Democratic Role of Local Government" at 12 noon in
Room TB 301 Tower 2 Main Concourse. Michael McLoone has extensive experience in dealing with the contemporary issues in the relationship between elected councillors and the executive management system of Irish local authorities. In this guest lecture Michael will examine such issues as the split between reserved and executive functions, section 140 resolutions, emergency works and related case law, potential legal liabilities for local authorities, managers and staff, as well as the impact of EU law on local government in Ireland. This lecture forms part of the Law and Local Government course within the LLM in Public Law of the School of Law, now in its 5th year.
