Announcing the Fourth annual meeting of
lightFORUM The Atlantic Laser and Optics Forum.

LightHouse is an initiative of the NCLA and Applied Optics Groups of NUI Galway.
With a total staff complement of 50, it brings together the largest group of laser & optics scientists and engineers in the country in pursuit of new discovery and support for Irish industry.

This years meeting took place on April 17th. The theme of the meeting was “Photonics in New Products and Manufacture” and featured case-study presentations from industry representatives as well as speakers from state agencies on support for upskilling in industry.
The meeting was opened by Professor Nicholas Canny, President of the Royal Irish Academy, who praised the impact of the LightFourm activity and the strategic role of Photonics in NUI Galway. A large attendance enjoyed presentations from the keynote speaker, Eugene Arthurs, Executive Director of SPIE who spoke on the potential of photonics to transform industry as well as talks from representatives of industry in Ireland.
