This one-day course will cover aspects of using R at two
levels - see Timetable
In the morning course we deal with:
setting up the system (about 15 mins)
getting started
data input and output
graphics
basic data structures
installing and using libraries
elementary linear and generalized linear modelling.
In the afternoon session we give some key details on:
more advanced aspects of graphics and modelling
programming effectiveness and efficiency
setting up libraries of your own functions, data sets
using compiled code within R as dynamic link libraries (dll's).
Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops and to have downloaded the specified software and datasets prior to the course.
It is recommened that you install:
R 2.0.1 with all of the standard packages from CRAN ( http://cran.r-project.org/ )
RODBC package
"anything else you may want"!
and
down load and setup the Tinn-R editor for use with R ( http://www.sciviews.org/Tinn-R )
Note there is currently a problem with the compiled versions of this editor - we have contacted the developer and a new working version should be available sometime after Feb 7. We will email registered participants as soon as we have working versions of all material for the course.
Further details on accessing datasets and session scripts will be made available on registration.
