Full-time overseas students have studied in Galway for over 40 years. In the 2017/2018 academic year the University had 3,110 non-Irish students from over 110 different countries. The School of Medicine is home to the largest cohort of International students at the University, with over 360 students studying on our undergraduate programmes. A number of factors lead overseas students to study medicine in Galway. These include the quality of education provided and the worldwide recognition given to Irish medical qualifications. Galway, because of its size, its location and its cultural background, provides an environment that is safe and supportive.
