The NUI Galway School of Medicine received a departmental Athena SWAN Bronze Award in April 2018, becoming the first Irish School of Medicine to achieve this accolade. The School works closely with the NUI Galway Office of the Vice President for Equality and Diversity (OVPED) to further gender equality in the policies and practices across the School. The University's actions on gender equality can be followed on the OVPED Gender Equality website.

The SoM Bronze application is available on request from external Institutions. A summary of the key themes and actions from the application can be reviewed on our website. Any questions pertaining to the SoM Athena SWAN work and activities are welcomed by the School's Self-Assessment Team (somnuigsat@nuigalway.ie). You can follow #nuigmedequality on Twitter to keep up to date on equality events and information in the SoM.
