Public Lecture Series Suicide Prevention

 

The School of Nursing and Midwifery's first Public Lecture Series focused on Suicide Prevention, in response to community feedback. The event was held on Tuesday 27 May 2014.  

Speakers included Joan Freeman CEO of Pieta House, Gerry Raleigh Director of the National Office for Suicide Prevention, Frank Hunt of Galway East Life Support (GELS), Mary O'Sullivan Regional Suicide Prevention Officer, Brian Cunningham former CEO of The Face of Ireland, as well as Laura Dempsey and Agnes Tully, lecturers at the School of Nursing and Midwifery,

Perspectives were offered from people working in the area and those who have availed of their services. The event included a series of mini-lectures followed by a very lively Q&A style discussion between the audience and the panel of experts.
