‌‌The College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences offers a range of higher research degrees.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) :  The PhD is awarded following successful completion of a programme of supervised research and advanced education and training.

Doctor of Medicine (MD) :  The MD is, in accordance with national and international norms, provided to encourage the development of advanced research skills in medical graduates and the medical profession, and is adapted to the particular circumstances of advanced professional training in that profession.

Research Masters Degrees  :  The College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences offers a number of postgraduate research masters degrees [Level 9; ref. http://www.nfq.ie/] in its three Schools.  These programmes aim to prepare graduates to develop, improve and enhance knowledge and understanding in their chosen area of research.  In the School of Medicine, the Master of Health Science (Primary Care), Master of Surgery (MCh) by research and Master of Science by research are available.  The Masters in Philosophy (MPhil) is offered in the School of Health Sciences and School of Nursing and Midwifery.
