International Student Guide
The National University of Ireland, Galway will not accept any direct International Medical Applications. All interested applicants can only apply through one of the agencies above.
AWARD OF PLACES
As places for Overseas Students are limited, meeting the specified requirements does not guarantee a place.
The award of places will be subject to the following specific provisions:
- That the place will be accepted in writing within the period specified.
- That the place will be accepted under the limitations regarding postgraduate internships and employment in Ireland.Click

- That the acceptance is accompanied by:
- A remittance for at least half the annual fee (the other half being payable before or at Registration), a guarantee from an appropriate authority that sufficient financial resources are and will be available to the applicant to discharge all fees and other expenses during the period of the Course.
- That a Medical Certificate of good health plus a completed certificate form including evidence of screening for Hepatitis B is provided. A positive result will debar.
- That no transfer to the Course under normal fee will be permitted in the current or any subsequent session.
Failure to comply with any specific condition of the offer may result in the withdrawal of the offer without further notice.
Course and Examination Requirements
Overseas Students admitted to the Medical School will be subject to the normal regulations and other requirements of the Medical Course. These include:
- Completion of the Foundation Medical Examination within one year from entry.
- Completion of the First Medical Examination within two years of passing the First Medical examination.
- Completion of the Second Medical Examination within three years of passing the Foundation Medical examination.
- The passing of Examinations in each Year of the Course.
