Bypass Oranmore village by going straight through this roundabout and the next, which is only about 0.5 km further on (take the 2nd exit at both).
Follow the dual carriageway (now the N6) to the next roundabout (about 3km) and take the right turn (2nd exit) off it.
Proceed to the next roundabout (about 1km) and take the left exit (again the 2nd exit) towards Galway.
At the next roundabout (another 1-2 km) turn right (2nd exit) and proceed about 0.25 km to the next roundabout. Go straight through this roundabout (again the 2nd exit) and follow the road along to the next roundabout (about 2km).
Go straight through this (2nd exit) and proceed to the next roundabout, which is next to Tesco's. At this roundabout take the 4th exit to head right over the Quincentennial bridge in the direction of Clifden.
[ In short, there are a total of 8 roundabouts (see map
below) from Oranmore to the University. Take the second exit at each, except the last. ]
At the traffic lights on the far side of the bridge turn left (onto Newcastle Road) and immediately pass a garage and an AIB bank on the left. Immediately after the bank (at the traffic lights) turn left into the University campus. Follow this road (Distillery Road) along the river bank to reach the car park outside the Department of Microbiology.
