Research interests
- Microbial Glycobiology examining glycosylated structures and glycomolecules of microbial origin with relevance to their role in bacterial disease development and the immune response.
- Pathogenic mechanisms of enteric and gastric bacteria, particularly Campylobacter and Helicobacter spp.
- Endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide), polysaccharide and glycolipid research examining the relationship of serospecificity, toxicity, and biological and immunological activities to structure.
- Mechanisms of microbial immunity and exploitation for vaccine development and biotherapeutics
- Infection and immunization-induced autoimmunity, roles in neurological disease (e.g., Guillain-Barré and Multiple Sclerosis) and gastric disease (e.g., gastric atrophy) development.
