 The ProfESSOR ANTHONY P. Moran                                                    Memorial Lecture 2011

The first annual Professor Anthony P. Moran Memorial Lecture is organised by the School of Natural Sciences and will take place on 30th September at 4pm in IT250.

Professor Otto Holst, Borstal Research Centre, Hamburg, will deliver the inaugural memorial lecture, which will be entitled:

"Bacterial lipopolysaccharides: heterogenous in structure and Janus-faced in function"

2010 Dunican Medal Presentation:

retirement from microbiology of Professors jim houghton, pete smith and john patching 

17th July 2009

The three Professors will shortly retire. To mark the occasion, and to celebrate their careers in Microbiology, MicroSoc organised a BBQ in the College Bar.
Prof. Pete Smith gave a seminar on his work with antibiotics and fish disease, which focused on 'Method and Meaning' in antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Profs Jim Houghton and John Patching also spoke and reflected on their time in Microbiology at NUI Galway.
