Wednesday 08/12/05 - 14:59

This year was quieter than last but then again a lot of us are in "The Serious Year" of the 'oul PhD so we've been busier. The Microsoc is in the process of being passed on to the next generation in the department and there will be new committee up on the website in a couple of days. We're also gearing up for another Christmas party tonight so if anyone takes pictures that they want up just email them to me. Also, if people have photos from throughout the year (Aran Islands in particular) let me know and I'll get them up here.

Monday 18/04/05 - 21:21

I finally got around to getting the photos from the Microbiology Christmas Party up on the web. Sorry about the delay but apparently you get busy in third year. I dunno. Anyway, they can be viewed on the photos page.

Friday 19/11/04 - 14:28

The new Microsoc committee has been selected and can be viewed on the committee page. Also, thank you to the fourth years who came along to the Microsoc table quiz last Wednesday and congratulations to them too for winning the 7th prize €50 voucher.

Tuesday 10/08/04 - 14:15

The Corrib Princess 2004 photos are finally up. Sorry about the delay but I was really busy these last few weeks. Thank you to Paul for the photos and to everyone else for the photo content without which the pictures would just be blank white squares.

If anyone else has some photos from the night that they would like to see up on the website then just email them to me.

Wednesday 23/06/04 - 19:29

The Microsoc BBQ went off very well last Friday and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did (We all found out how crap Seanie is at pool when he's had a few scoops as he would say). The weather behaved itself and stayed dry as did myself but I think I was probably the only one....nuff said.

On another note there are some previously unreleased photos from the SGM Satellite meeting that were kindly donated by Pamela so head over to the photos section and check them out.

News about the Corrib Princess trip will be posted as soon as I have it. Ciao for now.

Monday 14/06/04 - 18:43

Tickets are now available for the Microsoc BBQ on Friday evening priced at €5. Myself, Sean and Justin will be coming around to the labs to sell them so make sure and have your wallets handy.

Also if anyone's interested I just created a new website for myself and you can get to it through the link below on the left.

Monday 07/06/04 - 12:40

Tickets will be available soon for the Microsoc Summer Barbeque at a cost of €5. The BBQ will be held on Friday June 18th in the College Bar and free food and wine will be provided. Hopefully the weather will hold up!

Also, the annual Corrib Princess trip will be held on Thursday 8th July. Details are still to be finalised but again free food and entertainment will be provided. More details will follow as they become available.

Thursday 22/04/04 - 20:24

The SGM Satellite Meeting photos are now up and running. I didn't put all the photos that were taken up on the web in the interest of public taste. Thank you to all the people from outside Galway who came up to the meeting and the night out and again also to the people who helped organise the event. I hope we all learned a lot about Micro research around the country from the people who are physically doing the research (no offense Conor!).

We're planning another event soon because its been a while since the last and when I have more details you'll know where to find them.

Wednesday 21/04/04 - 12:10

The Christmas Party Photos are up. I've been busy and didn't get around to doing them till now but here they are in all their glory (some with more glory than others...). The page needs a Flash plugin so just click ok if the computer asks you to install it. Newer computers shouldn't have a problem.

On another note, the First Microsoc Satellite meeting went very well and a big thanks to Dr. Conor O'Byrne for all his help and for his photos (some of you won't thank him for the photos!). If there are any more photos out there sitting in a disposable "Kodak Moments" camera please extract them and email them to me or drop them up and I'll have them up on this site in the next few days.

Monday 26/01/04 - 18:26

Welcome back everyone. Sorry it took so long to update this but I've been fairly busy. Well, Christmas has come and gone. Hope y'all had a good one. The Microbiology party went down well as well and I'll have pics and stuff up soon. I'm working on a better way of displaying the pictures so hopefully that'll be working soon as well. Talk to you.

Wednesday 20/11/03 - 08:07

You've all seen the posters that are up by now so I'll be brief. The Greyhound Racing is on on Friday week (28th Nov.). Tickets will be available next week for €5 and you'll get a free drink and a €5 bet as well as free admission. Pretty good eh?

Also the Christmas party is on on the 11th Dec. There'll be a good few spot prizes on the night (free raffle tickets) as well as prizes for best fancy dress etc. So now, there's another reason to put some effort into those costumes...Tickets will also be available at the start of next week.

Thursday 06/11/03 - 00:00

The new Committee page is up and running just to let everyone know who's doing what and who to go to with a problem.

Also I have it on the Q.T. that the Christmas party will be on the 11th December (a Thursday...Staff take note!, we won't be in on the Friday). Anyway don't tell anyone I told you about the party date or the second year PhD's'll kill me. You heard it here first!!

Wednesday 05/11/03 - 18:55

The Dog Racing night will take place on Friday the 28th November. More details will follow soon and there will be notices and posters up soon.

The planning of the Christmas party is also underway and I'm sure you're all looking forward to it again.

There is a new Committee page but that won't be up till tomorrow so I'll talk to you then. Seeya!

Thursday 23/10/03 - 20:03

The captions are all done now so go have a look at the photo's. Keep an eye on the site as well because all the upcoming Micro and Microsoc news will be here first. If anyone has any ideas for events or outings let us know and we'll see what happens.

Don't forget, tea and biscuits at 12:45 tomorrow in the coffee room before the seminar at one.

Wednesday 22/10/03 - 18:50

Well the website is finally up and being hosted on the Microbiology website. Thanks to everyone who supported the table quiz last week. The money raised is going towards a Microbiology Department trip to the Dog Races and that should be great fun altogether. Don't forget, if anyone wants stuff or notices up on the site just mail me or find me ok? Talk to you soon.

Tuesday 07/07/03 - 00:00

The website is finished!!! Hurray!! It'll be up during the week. All the photos from the Microsoc Christmas Party of 2002 are up and we should have some more after the Corrib Princess Trip. Speaking of which, there is now no limit to how many tickets you can buy so get your asses down to Caroline's office before they're all gone and you get left at home like Johnny-No-Mates for the night.

Monday 30/06/03 - 00:13

I'm just putting the final touches on the webpage and I hope to have it up fairly soon with some photos. I hope you all like it and use it to keep up to date on all that's happening with the Microsoc. More later.
