Self-Care and Self-Compassion with Kirsten DeLeo
5.00 – 6.30, Thursday 4th July 2019
G018, Institute for Lifecourse and Society, NUI Galway
Kirsten will discuss the importance of connecting in a compassionate way with our own feelings and will introduce the audience to essential methods that can help us practice better self-care.
Kirsten DeLeo is a teacher, author and trainer in the field of contemplative care. For over twenty-five years she has accompanied terminally ill patients and their families. She co-developed "Authentic Presence," one of the first contemplative-based programmes in end-of-life care in the United States, a programme that is now offered in Ireland as well. Kirsten is the author of “Present Through The End. A Caring Companion’s Guide to Accompanying the Dying” (Shambhala Publications, August 2019). See https://www.kirstendeleo.com/ for more details. Kirsten has led many retreats at the Dzogchen Beara Meditation Centre in West Cork and we are delighted to welcome her on her first visit to Galway.
