Associate Professor Craig Hassed

Associate Professor Craig Hassed works at the Department of General Practice and is coordinator of mindfulness programs at Monash University. His teaching, research and clinical interests include mindfulness-based stress management, mind-body medicine, meditation, health promotion, integrative medicine and medical ethics. Craig is regularly invited to speak and run courses in Australia and overseas in health, professional and educational contexts. Craig was the founding president of the Australian Teachers of Meditation Association and is a regular media commentator. He also featured in the documentary, The Connection, and wrote the companion e-book, “The Mindfulness Manual” and co-authored with Richard Chambers the free online Mindfulness course in collaboration with Monash University and FutureLearn.
Craig writes regularly for medical journals and has published twelve books;

Dr. Eva Flynn

Dr. Eva Flynn works as a lecturer in the Discipline of General Practice in the College of Medicine, Nursing and Life Sciences at NUI Galway since 2012. She also works clinically as a general practitioner. She lectures in undergraduate education and also postgraduate education, being the course director of the Clinical Primary Care Modules. Since 2017, Eva has facilitated the delivery of an 8 weeks module in Mindfulness to fourth year medical students, the Mindfulness Special Study Module. She works with the buddhist monk, Thubten Gelong in the delivery of this module. Eva is also pursuing teacher-training in MBSR, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with the Institute of Mindfulness Based Approaches in Germany, due for completion in 2020.

Eva is also a member of the Mindful Way@NUI Galway initiative and has in the past delivered a regular shared mindfulness practice on campus.

Dr. David Mothersill 

Dr. David Mothersill is an award-winning neuroscientist and teacher, and Director of the Master's in Clinical Neuroscience at NUI Galway. His research examines social cognition, the cognitive ability to understand the perspectives and emotions of other people. Dr. Mothersill has published 18 publications in peer-reviewed journals and been awarded research funding from the Irish Research Council, Royal Irish Academy, and Eurolife.

Phil Noone

Phil Noone has extensive nursing experience both nationally and internationally, and is currently Programme Director for the Masters/Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences (Gerontology) at NUI Galway where she has lectured at the School of Nursing and Midwifery since 2002.  Along with colleagues, Mary Gannon, Lorraine Mee, Dr Siobhan Smyth, researcher John Ivory and student Evan Byrne, Phil rolled out Mindfulness practice for first and third year general, midwifery and mental health undergraduate nursing students.  Phil will soon be a qualified Mindfulness teacher.
