The Doing Writing Series

A new series of readings and open interviews with contemporary authors which
will focus on various aspects of the doing of writing, from ideas about
composition and artistic practice to working habits
and professional development

CLAIRE KEEGAN

Claire Keegan’s first collection of stories, Antarctica
(1999), won the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature. Her
second collection, Walk the Blue Fields (2007), won the
Edge Hill Prize for Short Stories. Her short story ‘Foster’
was selected by Richard Ford as the winner of the Davy
Byrnes Irish Writing Award in 2009 and it was
subsequently published in The New Yorker. A revised and
expanded version of Foster was published as a standalone
work by Faber and Faber in 2010 and it continues to
attract high critical acclaim
