8pm, Maoin Cheoil na Gaillimhe, St Mary’s College, St Mary’s Road, Galway.

You are invited to a performance, discussion and reception; composer Mícheál O Súilleabháin will present a short recital of his music accompanied by traditional percussionist Mel Mercier (Bodhrán and Bones).This will be followed by a short panel discussion of Jean Cocteau’s contention “The arts are essential – if only one knew what for” with speakers who will also participate in the symposium on The Intelligence of Art at the Huston School of Film & Digital Media from 25th – 26th October. After the music and panel there will be a reception to launch the symposium.
